Stage 1 Complete – Turntable Foundations and Retaining Wall

Some time back the turntable was completed but the legal aspects were not attended to. Thanks to diligent work by our Secretary, a Code of Compliance has now been issued by the Christchurch City Council.

This means that we can now apply to NZTA (the Rail Regulators) for approval to use our track and turntable for the first time.

Stage One is therefore now formally and legally complete!

Arrival of T199

T 199 is owned by the Rail Heritage Trust and comes to us from the defunct Waverley Station collection in Taranaki. It is a T-4 subclass built at Addington workshops in 1966 as one of the final stock wagons built for NZR. – Photos by Dave Hansen more “Arrival of T199”

Museum Access Track

Recently the access track to the Museum was laid thanks to KiwiRail staff and members of the Canterbury Railway Society who came along after and laid the ballast. – Photos by Gordon Bartram & George Wealleans more “Museum Access Track”
